US Contributes first USD500 million to Green Climate Fund

As predicted in our last newsletter in February the U.S. government has released $500 million to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) as the first installment of the $3 billion pledge the Obama administration made to the United Nations Green Climate Fund to help developing nations adapt to climate impacts, a State Department official said March 8.

“This grant is the first step toward meeting the president's commitment of $3 billion to the GCF and shows that the United States stands squarely behind our international climate commitments” and the Paris climate deal reached by nearly 200 nations in December.”

America’s payment to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) now allows the WCCC to begin submitting the individual country scholarship proposals to the GCF for funding.

This newsletter is therefore dedicated to explaining the path & timeline forward for the Scholarship Program participants.
